Slow Cooker Firecracker Chicken (Printable Version)

Spicy, sweet and savory chicken cooked tender in a slow cooker; pairs perfectly with rice or noodles.

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, chopped into bite-sized pieces
02 - 1 cup chicken broth
03 - 1/4 cup hot sauce, such as Frank's
04 - 8 ounces canned tomato sauce
05 - 1/4 cup brown sugar
06 - 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
07 - 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
08 - 1/4 cup heavy cream

# Steps:

01 - Place the cubed chicken into the slow cooker.
02 - Whisk together the chicken broth, hot sauce, tomato sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, and cornstarch slurry.
03 - Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours.
04 - During the last 30-45 minutes of cooking, add the heavy cream to thicken the sauce and allow it to fully heat through.

# Notes:

01 - Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Freeze only the chicken without added cream to preserve texture.
02 - Reheat on the stovetop or microwave, adding a splash of broth or cream if needed.
03 - Cut chicken into uniform pieces for even cooking.
04 - Adjust spice levels by adding extra red pepper flakes or sriracha, or reduce spice with less hot sauce and extra cream or tomato sauce.
