Florida Shrimp Pie (Printable Version)

Flaky crust with shrimp, bell pepper, cheddar, and creamy filling. Ideal for seafood comfort food.

# Ingredients:

→ Seafood

01 - 1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined

→ Crust

02 - 1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

→ Dairy

03 - 1 cup heavy cream
04 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
05 - 2 tablespoons butter

→ Vegetables

06 - 1/2 cup diced yellow or sweet onion
07 - 1/2 cup diced red or green bell pepper
08 - 2 cloves garlic, minced

→ Seasonings

09 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
10 - 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
11 - Salt and pepper to taste
12 - Fresh parsley for garnish

# Steps:

01 - In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and bell pepper, sautéing until they are soft (about 5 minutes). Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant. Add the shrimp, Worcestershire sauce, and Old Bay seasoning. Cook until shrimp are pink and opaque (about 3-4 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
02 - In a bowl, combine the heavy cream and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
03 - Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Roll out the pie crust and place it in a pie dish. Trim any excess. Pour the shrimp mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly. Pour the cream and cheese mixture over the shrimp filling.
04 - Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

# Notes:

01 - You can substitute the shrimp with crab meat or scallops for a different seafood flavor.
02 - Try using a combination of mozzarella and parmesan instead of cheddar for a unique twist.
03 - For a lighter version, replace the heavy cream with half-and-half or a non-dairy alternative.
