# Ingredients:

→ Base Dough

01 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
02 - 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
03 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar
04 - 2 large eggs, at room temperature
05 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
06 - 1/2 teaspoon professional red food coloring
07 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
08 - 1/3 cup cocoa powder
09 - 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
10 - 1/2 teaspoon salt

→ Coating

11 - 1/2 cup powdered sugar

# Steps:

01 - In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened unsalted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture turns light and fluffy.
02 - Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the creamed mixture. Mix thoroughly until fully integrated and the color is uniform.
03 - In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well blended.
04 - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until a cohesive dough forms. Avoid overmixing.
05 - Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm it for shaping.
06 - Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Roll the chilled dough into uniform balls, then coat each one evenly in powdered sugar. Arrange evenly on a prepared baking sheet.
07 - Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are set and centers appear slightly soft. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

# Notes:

01 - Increase the food coloring for a deeper hue as desired. For maximum softness, do not overbake the cookies.
